Caring for your Belts
A good quality belt is an investment that will last longer than most of your items in your wardrobe and it's only fitting that a little care in maintaining them would go a long way in ensuring the longevity of your belt. Below are a few ways to care for your belt:
Condition your belt.
When you first receive your belt it may still be a bit stiff, but that will soon change as you start using it. However, as with all leather products your belt will, over time benefit from some form of treatment . A simple application of Leather Balm on the whole belt with just your fingers and then a good polish with a clean shoe cloth will keep your belt in a good condition.
Keep your belt dry.
If for any reason your belt does get wet, let it dry naturally, completely at room temperature. This means no use of hair dryers or any heat source to do so. Once dry a treatment of Leather Balm or conditioner should be applied to revive the leather. Keep in mind that some conditioners may darken the color of the leather.
Opt for a hanger.
If you are not going to use the belt for a prolonged period of time please hang the belt straight up from the buckle and give it some room to breathe.
The best thing you can do for your belt is to wear it! Put it on, show it off and enjoy.
